Every bed starts as a line somebody imagined and then walked. DEC³S Landscape Designs draws those lines around Boiling Springs — the sweep of a border along a drive, the shape a shrub row will hold once it fills in, the grade that sends spring rain away from a foundation instead of across it. March here brings dogwood and redbud out along the back roads, and a yard planned in winter suddenly makes sense all at once. Alongside the design there is the ordinary steady part: cutting, edging and keeping the beds honest. A place reads as designed only when the small upkeep never falls behind.
