Peter's Lawn Mowing

About Peter's Lawn Mowing

By seven in the morning a July day in Aiken has already decided what it intends to be, so Peter's Lawn Mowing gets moving before the cicadas wind up. The grass is still cool then, and bermuda cut in that first hour lays down in straight, even rows that hold their color. Mowing is the center of the work — deck height set for the heat, the trimmer run around mailbox posts and crepe myrtle trunks, every stray clipping blown back onto the turf where it belongs. By the time the afternoon thunderheads stack up over the pines west of town, the day's yards are finished and standing tall. Good work in the good hours, one lawn at a time.
