About Alpine Lawn Services

Just past the fence lines on the town's west side, Hitchcock Woods runs on for thousands of acres of longleaf pine and pale sand footpath, and the yards bordering it borrow a little of that wildness. Alpine Lawn Services works that edge in October, when the straw comes down in slow drifts and the light between trunks turns the color of weak tea. The work is mowing, trimming, leaf and pine-straw cleanup, and keeping bed lines legible against all that pine behind them. There is a particular satisfaction in the minute a raked yard remembers its own shape. Aiken hands out a long and generous fall, and this is a crew that spends it outdoors.
