Woonsocket's dooryards run narrow and steep, hemmed by stone walls that have settled into the hillside above the Blackstone, and the roads climb past triple-deckers toward the mill light on the water. Ortiz Outdoor works those lots street by street — mowing and edging until a lawn sits square inside its borders, laying seasonal treatments, setting plantings and designs into the clay-heavy yards of homes and business properties across the valley. Winter turns the same ground into a different problem, and the crew answers it with plows and shovels on driveways, walkways, entryways and parking lots, so a place is open and dark-paved by the time the first car backs out. They set dumpsters, too, for the seasons when a yard needs emptying before it can be rebuilt. What stays behind is simple and physical: a crisp edge along the walk, a bed that holds its shape, a lot that looks cared for from the road.
