Up in the Social district the houses stand close, and the yards behind them are small bright squares of green fenced in chain-link. Batista Landscaping cuts them, and the wider lawns out toward Cold Spring Park too, mowing and trimming through the long Woonsocket summer. Tight spaces reward attention — a mower run in the right direction, a trimmer worked around every post and stair rail, clippings blown off the walk instead of left where they fall. Cleanups in the thaw clear what winter left; cleanups in November take the leaves before snow can pin them down. A small city yard, kept up, gives back more than its size suggests.
