About Roots of the Earth Inc

West Warwick's light comes in low along the Pawtuxet, river-damp in the morning and gold by four, and a lawn in that valley grows fast and forgives nothing — which is exactly the work Roots of the Earth Inc. answers. They mow weekly or every other week, edge the walks until the line between grass and granite is a drawn line, weed the gardens, trim the hedges square, and lay mulch and stone so a bed reads finished from the street. Spring and fall they come through the old mill villages for the cleanups — leaves off the slopes behind Arctic and Phenix, winter's wreckage carried off, debris hauled away so the yard starts its season clean. There is a plain satisfaction in it: a shorn lawn holding its stripes in the river light, dark mulch banked against a foundation, a hedge that looks like someone decided it. That is what they leave behind on a West Warwick street.
