December dark comes early in South Kingstown, and by five o'clock the snow is already blue over Worden Pond and drifting deep into the Great Swamp. In Wakefield the flakes swirl past the shop windows on Main Street and vanish into the Saugatucket as it runs south to the salt ponds. Stoneway Construction clears snow across town, bringing a builder's feel for ground and grade to the work of digging out drives and doorsteps.
