Kingston village was called Little Rest once, after the hill the road climbs past the old courthouse and the white clapboard houses. Little Rest Landscaping keeps the grass up and down that rise — mowing, edging along brick walks and stone, trimming the corners a mower will never reach, and carrying the clippings off. Old lawns like these have contours of their own, and a good cut follows them instead of fighting them. In October the campus maples let go all at once and the work becomes leaves, cleanup, and one last pass before frost. Come April it all runs in reverse, and the lawn wakes up already looking looked-after.
