About Grandscapes
First light comes up off the salt ponds and lays itself flat along the stone walls of Wakefield, and that is the hour this landscape design and construction work starts moving. Design comes first — an intimate garden, or a plan drawn for a whole property — and then the building of it: paver patios, retaining walls, fire pits, an outdoor kitchen set exactly where the long summer evening will find it. Through the green months the maintenance keeps its rhythm, spring cleanup and aeration, mulch laid dark and even around the beds, then the fall haul when the oaks let go all at once and the light goes low over the Great Swamp. Winter hands the crews a different job: a drive plowed open before anyone in the house has stirred, black pavement steaming while the rest of the road is still white. What the work leaves behind is a yard that looks like it was always meant to sit there, holding its edges from North Kingstown down through Richmond to the water at Matunuck.
