Finnegan's Mowing

About Finnegan's Mowing

Beneath the Scituate Reservoir lie the old foundations of villages that were cleared away when the valley was flooded to give Providence its drinking water. Above the waterline, the town is woods, winding roads and wide, quiet yards from North Scituate village to the slopes of Chopmist Hill. Finnegan's Mowing keeps that grass cut low and level, the kind of steady upkeep that lets a country lawn look as calm as the water nearby. In September, when maples along the reservoir begin to blush and the mornings rise in mist, a just-cut yard holds the light like glass. Out here, where the nearest neighbor may be past a stand of pines, a clean cut is a quiet way of saying someone is home.
