Late on a December afternoon the hemlocks along the Ponaganset go from green to ink, and the snow keeps coming anyway. Carrier Tree Service, LLC plows through that blue hour and well past it — driveways, turnarounds, parking areas, walkways cleared by shovel, sand and salt laid where the shade never lets ice go. Under tall pines a storm lands twice: once out of the sky, then again off the branches an hour later. So the work is patient, and it gets done a second time when a second time is what it takes. What remains is a clear dooryard and the sound of a truck easing off down the road.
