Neutaconkanut Hill is the last piece of glacier the west side kept, and from the top of it in May you can watch the whole city green at once. Grassroots of New England works that first flush — spring cleanups, the season's opening mow, edging the walks back to a line, trimming the corners winter left ragged. Through the season it's weekly cutting and hauling, and through autumn it's leaves off the lawn before the rain glues them down.
