April opens the ponds at Roger Williams Park and the whole Elmwood side of the city goes soft and green almost overnight. Cristian's Professional Services meets it with spring cleanups — raking out the winter, mowing the first tall growth, edging where turf has crept over the walk, trimming what the cold bent sideways. Through summer it's the weekly rhythm, and through November it's leaves, bagged and gone. Then the trucks change over to plowing, shoveling and salting, opening driveways on the side blocks off Broad Street before the buses run. Same yards, same hands, turned inside out twice a year.
