About T J Brown Inc

On Historic Hill the yards are terraced, hedged and no bigger than a parlor, stepping down toward the harbor between clapboard walls. T J Brown Inc mows, trims and edges lawns through Newport, taking on the small squares of green that need a hand's width of clearance on every side. October is the long stretch — leaves dropping into dooryards, into areaways, into every corner where the wind parks them, with cleanups running until the trees stand bare. There is a quiet reward in a little lawn done properly: the edge cut clean along the brick, the beds cleared out, the gate latched behind you. The harbor keeps its own schedule down the hill; the yards up here keep theirs.
