From the higher streets on Johnston's east side you can see Providence stacked along the horizon, and on a snowy night the city glow lights the drifts long before any plow arrives. Paz landscaping runs those hours — driveways opened wide enough to back out of, lots pushed clear, steps and walks shoveled, salt down on the shaded stretches that never quite let go. A nor'easter here can drop wet snow that sets like mortar, so timing the passes is half the craft and patience is the other half. Nothing beats returning at daylight to bare pavement and banks squared at the end of the drive. Johnston keeps moving in February because somebody was out at three in the morning.
