Advanced Ecology Lawn Care

About Advanced Ecology Lawn Care

In late September, when the light comes low over Snake Den's stone walls and the hills west of Hartford Avenue start letting go of their green, Advanced Ecology Lawn Care is out in Johnston pulling cores from tired soil. Their work is turf itself — the Basic Lawn Program's five slow-release feedings, insect control and lime through the year; core aeration that lifts thousands of plugs and opens the ground to air and nutrients; lawn renovation and slice seeding, grooves cut clean and seed dropped down into them where the rain will find it. It is unglamorous, patient work, and it pays off in the thing everyone notices and nobody can name: a yard in this old mill valley that stands up thick and even, that takes a footprint and springs back. Come the following June, when the Woonasquatucket runs low and the heat sits heavy on the neighborhoods, those lawns are the ones still holding their color. That's the whole ambition — grass that earns its ground, season after season, across Johnston and Rhode Island.
