Quidnick keeps its mill-village shape — houses set close, driveways narrow, the road bending along with the water — and in February every inch of that layout matters once there is snow to move. J W Studley & Sons works those tight streets with an eye for where the piles can go, taking driveways and walkways down to hard surface and salting the shaded side where ice likes to linger past noon. Snow removal in an old village is a puzzle of angles more than horsepower. There is a good feeling in the low afternoon sun afterward, looking back down a street of black driveways and white lawns. Coventry earns its winters, and they are worth doing right.
