Proscape

About Proscape

Youngwood grew up around a railroad yard, and the town still lies in long straight lines under the snow, with Chestnut Ridge standing white to the east. Proscape works those winter mornings, plowing driveways, lots and alleys, clearing sidewalks and building entrances, and putting salt down before the freeze-thaw makes a rink of everything. Westmoreland County weather comes as heavy valley snow or as a fine dry squall off the ridge, and the blade gets set for whichever one showed up. Push it back far on the first pass and there is room for the storm after this one. A lot cleared by six in the morning is the quietest hour this town has.
