About Bill Lawton Lawn Care

Snow comes to York out of the west, over open farm ground, and it is usually inches deep on the sidewalks before the first alarm clock goes off. At four in the morning the blocks off Continental Square are blue-dark and empty, and that is exactly when Bill Lawton Lawn Care is out working — plowing drives, cutting a path to the front steps, laying salt on the spots where ice likes to hold. Central Pennsylvania hands out both kinds of winter, the light dry powder and the heavy wet fall that arrives on a warmer edge, and both have to be moved the same night. The reward is small and enormous at once: a driveway a person can back out of at seven without giving it a thought.
