Upper Bucks farmland rolls through West Rockhill Township in fieldstone and hedgerow, and the year out there takes two very different shapes. In January it is the sound of a plow at four in the morning, pushing back a long farm drive so somebody can leave for work at six, with the walks salted and the porch steps opened. In June it is mowing on ground that stays green late, edging beds against old stone foundations, keeping the trim tight around posts and downspouts. The township's hollows hold cold and its high ground catches wind, so no two properties get treated quite the same. Either way the measure is identical: you pull in at the end of the day and there is nothing left outside for you to do.
