About Moose Mountain Services

Three in the morning on the ridge above Waymart, the turbines turning somewhere overhead in the dark, and the snow coming across Route 6 in long white ropes. Moose Mountain Services is out in it — plowing driveways, opening lots, cutting walkways down to the pavement so the first person out the door has somewhere to put a foot. Wayne County storms stack up fast at this elevation, and the work is measured in passes made and re-made until the sky quits. The best part of the shift is the last of it: headlights swinging back down the mountain past drives that are black and clear while everything else is white. Then home, and ready for the next one.
