Spring Green

About Spring Green

August dusk lasts a long while over the hills east of Washington, the light hanging on past eight while the fields toward Bentleyville go from green to blue. Spring Green mows into that hour, finishing yards when the heat has let go and the turf takes a cut without stress. Every lawn ends trimmed at the borders, edged along the pavement and cleared of clippings, so the shape of the property comes back into focus. Late summer is when a lawn either holds together or gives up, and steady cutting is most of what decides it. The route includes Washington, Bentleyville, Ellsworth and the townships between.
