From the Ground

About From the Ground

Out toward the Mount Bethel Fens the ground keeps its own calendar, spongy and full of water in April, iron-hard by January. From the Ground works to that clock across Upper Mount Bethel township, mowing, trimming and edging while the season is soft, then plowing and salting once it turns. Cleanups come twice around, clearing winter's grit in spring and the leaf drift in fall, with mulch laid in to hold the beds between them. Cold-weather work is simpler and colder: open the driveway, clear the walk, put salt where the glaze forms, come back when it fills in again. Same ground, two entirely different kinds of care.
