About Watson Excavating Inc

Snow comes into Warrior Run country without much announcement and fills every hollow between the farms, and the roads out of Turbotville drift shut faster than any plow can be everywhere at once. Watson Excavating Inc clears driveways and lots through those storms — pushing the banks back, opening the turnaround, cutting a path wide enough for a truck and not just a car. Walks get shoveled, and salt goes down on the slick step by the kitchen door where it always forms. There is a specific quiet to a January morning when the machine shuts off and the drive is done: black, open, the field beyond it untouched. Then it's on to the next one, still ahead of daylight.
