Richie's lawn care services

About Richie's lawn care services

July, mid-afternoon, the flats north of town. Heat sitting on the ballfields, cicadas going, the smell of cut grass hanging in still air. Richie's lawn care services is out in it — mowing, trimming the edges, running the line around every post and hydrant until the yard reads clean. The mower turns, the stripes lay down, and a lawn that looked shaggy at noon looks squared away by four. Come fall the leaves get pulled off before they mat. That is the job, week after week, in a town that grows grass hard.
