Up in the Endless Mountains the growing season is short and everybody plans around it. Springville Township holds its cold late into spring — the grass in the low fields waits for real warmth before it commits — and then in June the whole township comes on at once. Perfect grass lawn care runs that compressed calendar with mowing, string trimming and edging, keeping yards even from the first cut to the last. Hemlock shade, old stone rows and rolling dairy ground make for lawns whose edges have to be found rather than assumed. When fall arrives the leaves are cleared off, and by then the nights up here are already sharp.
