Simon the Plowman

About Simon the Plowman

Snow falls differently at night in a river town — slow, sideways through the streetlight, filling the alleys behind the houses before it touches anything else. Simon the Plowman is out in it, working driveway to driveway across Spring City while most of the borough sleeps. The job is plowing, shoveling walks and steps, and salting the spots that go slick before sunrise. There's something plain and good about a cleared drive waiting for somebody who never saw the work happen. One truck, a long night, and a town that can get out in the morning.
