Down at the southern end of York County the land rolls in long farm ridges toward the Maryland line, and Shrewsbury sits up on one of them with the wind moving steadily over the fields. Unique Scapes mows the lawns tucked into that country — the open half-acre by the road, the shaded yard behind a hedgerow — trimming and edging until the boundaries read clearly again. Early summer mornings start in fog that burns off by nine and leaves the grass wet enough to cut clean. The pleasure is in the finish: a lawn striped straight down its length, the walkway edge sharp, the clippings carried off. When the fields turn brown in November the cleanups come through and take the leaves up before frost locks them to the ground.
