From the East Mountain side the whole city lays itself out at dusk, a grid of lights running down the valley and off toward the Abingtons. Nicky's Lawn-Care Service and construction works both ends of that view — mowing, trimming and edging the yards through the warm half of the year, then plowing and shoveling once the ridges go white. Winter starts a little earlier and hangs on a little longer up here than it does downtown, and the ice on a sloped drive gets treated accordingly.
