Sayre was laid out by the railroad — straight streets on the Susquehanna flats with the hills standing back on either side — and the maples planted along them have grown into a full ceiling of shade. That is a fine thing to walk under in July and a heavy thing to hang over a roof in an ice storm. Chris tree service works those streets and the valley roads out toward the river with trimming and pruning for clearance over sidewalks and wires, removal when a trunk has gone soft at the base, and storm damage cleanup once the wind has had its turn. Nothing here has much room to fall, so limbs come down on rope, in order, over the curb strip. When the truck moves on the shade stays, and the walk beneath it is clear enough for a stroller.
