Barefoot Lawn

About Barefoot Lawn

Rillton sits in the folded hill country of Westmoreland County, old patch-town ground where the roads follow the creeks and the ridges keep the wind honest. Barefoot Lawn keeps the grass on those slopes — mowing, trimming, edging around sheds and fence posts and the odd stone step cut into a bank. Summer growth takes off after a storm rolls up the Sewickley valley, so the schedule stays weekly and the cut stays even. When winter arrives out of the west it arrives all at once, and the work becomes plowing driveways, shoveling porches and walks, salting the steep places where it matters most. Hill-country properties ask more of both jobs, and they are worth the trouble.
