Nolde Pines

About Nolde Pines

Reading's lawns tend to come in small, precious pieces: a front strip between sidewalk and stoop, a fenced patch behind a row house, a sloped lot on the way up toward Neversink Mountain. Nolde Pines gives every one of those pieces its full attention. Through a Berks County summer, city grass gets baked by brick and pavement and then drenched by sudden storms, and it needs mowing often to stay even. Trimming along walls and fences and a tidy line at the curb make even the smallest yard look deliberate. On a June evening in City Park, with the old trees throwing long shade across the paths, you can see what a well-kept bit of green does for a whole block.
