Pottsgrove Manor has stood through a couple of centuries of Pottstown winters, its stone going blue-grey whenever a storm settles over the Schuylkill valley. Colonial Landscaping works those same January nights, though on considerably newer pavement. Plowing, shoveling, taking a lot down to the seams so nobody has to guess where the curb is — it is straightforward labor with an unglamorous sort of dignity. Snow here arrives wet and heavy off the river or dry and blowing down from the north, and each kind asks something different of the blade. Either way the aim is single: a driveway open before anyone needs it.
