Hunters Lawn and Snow

About Hunters Lawn and Snow

Pittsburgh keeps its houses on hillsides, and in a storm the city's grade becomes the whole problem: a street that's a pleasant walk in June turns into a ski run by six on a January morning. Hunters Lawn and Snow works those slopes — plowing drives and lots, shoveling and blowing the steps and walkways that hillside houses live by, and salting the pitch so tires and boots can hold. Getting a steep drive right means knowing where to push the snow so it doesn't slide back down by noon. When it's done, the walk is bare to the concrete and the handrail is clear enough to grab. That's a hill made ordinary again, which around here counts for a lot.
