About Apodaca Gardens and Grounds

The first flakes usually show up at dusk, drifting past a streetlight before anyone quite believes them. By then Apodaca Gardens and Grounds has the plow hung and the spreader loaded, ready for driveways, walkways and the steep front stairs that climb from street to door on Beechview's hillsides. Snow flatters a garden bed for about an hour, and after that it becomes a question of whether anyone can get out in the morning. The answer is an open drive, a swept step, and grit laid down where the sun never quite reaches. Winter here is short on daylight and long on work.
