Mountaintop Maintenance

About Mountaintop Maintenance

Pitcairn climbs the hillside above the Turtle Creek valley, its streets stacked in rows over the old rail yard, and almost nothing in the borough is level. Mountaintop Maintenance works those grades all year: mowing the narrow side yards, trimming along walls and stair rails, edging where sidewalk meets grass, and hauling leaves off the terraces in fall. Winter is the steeper test — plowing driveways that pitch straight down toward Broadway Boulevard, shoveling steps by hand, salting the walks that hold shade from breakfast to dusk. Snow comes heavier in the valley and lingers longest on the north-facing streets, so a bad night means running the route through town twice. In a place built on hills, sure footing is the thing worth giving.
