Radomile Lawns

About Radomile Lawns

September on the river side of the city: sycamores shedding bark in pale sheets, the light going gold by four o'clock, the grass finally growing well again after the heat. These are lawns with room to them, and they show a mowing line the way an open field shows a cut. We mow, edge along the drives and walks, trim close to fence posts and trunk flares, and clear whatever comes down off the old trees. Once the leaves start in earnest we return for the cleanups, hauling out so the turf goes into the cold breathing. A well-kept lawn near Holmesburg and Torresdale is a quiet sort of pride, and we are glad to have a hand in it.
