Cobbs Creek runs south under the sycamores, and in the first warm weeks of spring the whole strip of West Philadelphia beside it turns green almost overnight. G.O.T. Lawn Care starts its year there, mowing the small front squares and the deeper back yards, edging the concrete, trimming tight to porch rails and fence posts, and clearing the winter's leftover debris out of the beds. A yard cut and edged on a Saturday morning is a small, complete thing — finished, visible, and done for the week. Through summer the schedule keeps its beat; in fall the leaves get gathered up and hauled off. The work covers Cobbs Creek, Haddington, Kingsessing and over the line into Yeadon and Darby.
