About Angel contractor

Under the El on Kensington Avenue the first flakes show up in the streetlight before they ever reach the pavement. Angel contractor takes the shift that follows, plowing what can be plowed and shoveling what cannot, then laying salt down before the slush sets up hard as poured stone. These blocks run tight, with the parked cars close and the sidewalks narrow, so the work is cut narrow and clean: a channel from doorway to curb, a corner opened wide enough to push a stroller through. Snow removal is the single trade, and a storm is simply a night's worth of doorsteps to give back. Harrowgate, Juniata and the streets off Frankford Avenue all wake up to the same clear line.
