Calaman's Lawn Service

About Calaman's Lawn Service

Big Spring rises just outside Newville at a temperature it keeps all year, running clear and unfrozen while the limestone fields on either side of it go white. Calaman's Lawn Service works both halves of that calendar — mowing, trimming and edging from the first warm weeks through the fall, then plowing, shoveling and salting once the valley turns. Cumberland Valley summers are generous to grass, which is another way of saying the mower rarely gets a week off. Winter here is less about depth than about the freeze that follows a thaw, and about reaching a driveway before it sets. A lawn cut clean in July and a drive opened before breakfast in January are really the same job: making a place easy to live in.
