About Groundscape Incorporated

Snow comes into the Pequea valley sideways, riding the open ground between hedgerows before it banks up in the hollows below New Providence. Groundscape Incorporated works that terrain all winter, plowing driveways and lots, clearing walkways down to the pavement, and spreading salt where shade keeps a patch of ice alive for a week. There is a particular satisfaction in a steep drive with one dark wet stripe running down the middle of a white hill. Weather in this corner of Lancaster County rarely quits politely, so the work comes in rounds, back through the route until the last flake gives up. By morning the hill is passable and the day can go on as though nothing happened.
