Johnny's Lawns

About Johnny's Lawns

There is a smell to a New Castle evening in June — cut grass, warm brick, somebody's grill two yards over. Johnny's Lawns is part of how that smell gets there: mowing the neighborhood blocks, trimming along alley fences and garage slabs, cutting a clean edge where lawn meets sidewalk. Clippings come off the walks and the drive before the truck pulls away. Spring and fall the work turns to cleanups, and the beds get mulched once the weather settles into itself. A tended yard is a small kindness a house does for the street it sits on.
