Jenista the Lawnboy

About Jenista the Lawnboy

By late August the light in Lawrence County goes long and gold around seven, and a freshly cut lawn holds its stripes like corduroy. That hour is the payoff for Jenista the Lawnboy, whose week is spent mowing, string-trimming the fencelines, and blowing clippings off Neshannock Township's driveways and walks. This is ground that once made its name on potatoes; it still rewards anyone willing to work it on a schedule instead of a whim. Cut on rhythm, even a modest side-street yard carries itself. Service runs through the township and the neighboring stretches toward New Castle, Pulaski and Hillsville.
