About Barry's Service Inc.

The Susquehanna comes past Nescopeck wide and slow, and in January it steams. Ice runs on the North Branch, fog stands over the bridge to Berwick, and the cold coming off that water sinks into every driveway on the flat. Barry's Service Inc. plows through it — opening drives and lots, shoveling walks, putting salt where the river damp turns to glaze by morning. There's a good feeling in finishing a run at first light with the bridge lamps still burning and the pavement black behind you. Then the next band comes over the water and the trucks go back out.
