On a June evening the river fog lifts off the Monongahela and drifts across Route 906, and the grass along it holds the day's warmth a little longer. Mon Lawns keeps the town's yards on a rhythm through that long green stretch — regular mowing, string-trimming around fences and foundations, crisp edges cut along walks and drives, and cleanups when the season turns over. Monessen's lots are small and steep and particular, and each one asks for a slightly different line. The payoff is a whole block of them looking looked-after at once, from the flats near the water up to the last row of houses on the hill.
