About George J. Kelly

Melrose Park keeps its old trees. Oaks and sycamores lean over the streets between the station and Tookany Creek, and the lawns beneath them are half shade — thin in one corner, thick in another. George J. Kelly mows and trims through that patchwork, cutting to suit the shade rather than fighting it, edging along the driveway and the front walk, and clearing leaves when September starts sending them down early. The creek parkway holds cool air until mid-morning, and grass cut on those days keeps its color into the afternoon. A block where every front yard is finished to the same clean line reads like a neighborhood looking after itself.
