Three in the morning during a January storm, and Lower Paxton is nothing but streetlight, blowing snow and the sound of a plow two blocks over. Precision Landscape Works works that shift — pushing driveways open, cutting back the ridge the township plow leaves at the end of them, clearing walks and salting where the ice will set. The measure of the night is simple: somebody steps out at six-thirty and their car goes straight to the street. Storms up the Susquehanna Valley rarely finish when they say they will, so the job usually means coming back. Doing it right means it looks easy by daylight.
