About Jay's Lawn Service Inc.

Longswamp Township wakes slowly, fog pooling in the low ground the town was named for while the ridge of the Blue Mountain holds the first light. Jay's Lawn Service Inc. works those Berks County lanes between Mertztown and Topton, where a lawn runs right up against a cornfield and the line between them ought to be clean. Mowing, trimming and cleanups fill the long green months; when the cold air slides down off the ridge and the first storm arrives, the trucks go back out for plowing, shoveling and salt. There is real satisfaction in a driveway opened before the school bus comes through, and in an edge so crisp it looks drawn with a straightedge. Same roads, same hands, whatever the sky decides to do.
