Stitt's Nursery & Landscaping

About Stitt's Nursery & Landscaping

Leeper sits in tall-timber country, where the road runs on between stands of pine and hemlock and the Clarion River keeps its own cold weather down in the valley. Snow up here does not pass through — it stays, piling on camp roads and long gravel drives until somebody with a plow makes the place reachable again. Stitt's Nursery & Landscaping is that somebody, plowing, shoveling walks and putting down ice melt through the dark months, then mowing, trimming and edging the clearings once the ferns come up. There is a particular pleasure in the summer half of this work: cutting a green room out of the woods and leaving the edges sharp against the forest floor. Leeper, Cooksburg, Sigel, Vowinckel and Marienville are the map.
