North of Lansdale toward Franconia the corn comes off in October and leaves a field of stubble that catches the first snow in long rows. Seel Brothers Landscaping works that edge where the farms meet the neighborhoods, mowing, trimming, edging and mulching through the growing months and running cleanups at either end of them. When the weather turns, they plow driveways and lots, shovel walkways, and salt the steps and the shaded stretch of concrete by the door. Snow here has no manners — a whole winter of flurries, then eighteen inches in a night — so the equipment stays hooked up from December on.
